It is 311ft (95m) tall and 705ft (215m) long, which is the equal of two American football fields. Its greatest speed is only one-third of a mile per hour, and it costs US$100 million to manufacture.

The Belaz 75710, which was built in Belarus for use on Russian mining sites, can transport up to 496 tonnes of material and weighs 360 tonnes. It has nine axles and a top speed of 46 miles per hour. The maximum hoist height of the LTM11200 is 188m, and used examples are worth roughly USD3.3 million (£2.4 million).

10. Komatsu D575A-3SD Bulldozer

With a “Super Dozer” blade measuring 3.6m in height and 7.3m in width, it can move a capacity of 127.5 tonnes. It weighs 114.5 tonnes and is propelled by a 12-cylinder diesel engine producing around 1,150bhp.
